Muiderslot is a magnificent medieval castle situated in Muiden. It's a square, moated castle built in ca. 1285 by Floris V, Count of Holland.
A visit to this castle is truly fascinating for young and old alike. You can explore the castle following several routes, each with its own theme. In the summer, you'll find a falconer on the grounds who'll explain everything there is to know about falconry in the time of Count Floris. Floris was abducted and murdered while out hunting with his falcons...
The castle's gardens are meticulously landscaped and include a herb garden, a chard garden and a plum orchard. Great for a leisurely stroll. The tavern on the castle square is an ideal spot for a bite to eat or something to drink, and to enjoy the historic setting.
